Poker Tournaments
The online poker industry is constantly humming with poker tournaments of different kinds. But what is a poker tournaments and how it is different from a regular poker game?
The goal of a poker tournament is to win all the chips. In other words, to be the last player remaining on the game. In poker tournaments, the bounties are handed to the best players only. The stage of the poker tournament where you quit is important to determine the amount of money you'll win, if at all. It is only those players who quit in the advanced stages of the poker tournament, that get paid. Once you are "in the money", the further you proceed the more money you'll get.
Every poker tournament has its own awards system. Some pay only for the first place, some to the first 100 places. It is usually a question of how many players participate in the poker tournament, since that's where the money comes from.
At each tournament's beginning, each player pays his entrance fees. All participants pay the same amount of money and get the same amount of chips to begin with. These chips are for the poker tournament alone. They won't be swapped for money. As long as you have chips- you are in the tournament. Once you run out of chips- you are out.
The major difference between online poker games for money and poker tournaments is the blinds. In regular games, the blinds are the same throughout the game, while in poker tournaments they keep rising as the tournament advances. At the beginning, the number of blinds is low in compare with the amount of chips each player is handed. But the number gradually rises till blinds are very big.
Each poker tournament lasts till the last player. The one who doesn't fall he's the winner. Sometimes, if two or even three very good players reach the final stages, they may strike a deal of sharing the final bounties, thus ending the tournament.
